Software QA Engineer San Diego, CA The ideal candidate will have 2 years of direct hands-on quality assurance experience in a software development environment. They must have experience performing hands-on testing, as well as testing case development. This experience should involve; black box and automated testing. In addition, they should command a solid understanding of software quality assurance aspects including the methodologies and terminology. Primary Responsibilities: * Manual testing of eCommerce and web applications as part of system maintenances, hot-fixes, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). * Create and maintain test plans and test cases used for verifying software quality * Identify and track defects using a bug-tracking tool and communicate with the developers and other team members to ensure resolution of defects * Troubleshoot production issues and work with developers to confirm fixes * Execution and maintenance of test automation scripts * Support code deployment and smoke testing for numerous test and production servers * Four-year technical degree or equivalent work experience * 2 yearsrecentexperience in software quality assurance * Understanding of the entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance * Strong technical and analytical skills * Able to work well both independently and with the team to ensure quality * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Flexible schedule is a must Preferred: * Database: Oracle, SQL * Computer language: C, C or Java * Web and/or J2EE servers: knowledge of Tomcat and Apache * Experience with User Acceptance Testing * Experience troubleshooting issues in client-server environments * Experience with eCommerce and web applications * Experience with test automations tools * Experience with Linux is a plus Sony is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The candidate will be responsible for testing general purpose tools that are developed to aid the group's day to day business. Candidate will also be responsible for testing a web-based application which is used to ingest raw data and presents it to the end user on a GUI.
